We’ve not long came back from a short (i.e. just one night) family break to deepest, darkest Fife. It was very nice, if a little cold; the scenery was lovely and the car journey gave me a chance to reflect on a few things.
We (myself, Nicola, Euan & Mother-in-Law) were travelling down to my parent’s time-share villa for a early Christmas meal as we won’t get to see my side of the family much over the holidays. My parents and grandparents were going to meet us there.
On the way, we stopped at Dundee (City of a Thousand Roundabouts!) for a spot of Christmas shopping… Despite my warnings that we didn’t have a lot of space left in the car for a huge amount of shopping bags. We ended up with bags piled between – and on – the passengers in the back seats.
The villa was very nice; set in the expansive grounds of some grand stately home and with nothing but fields and trees all around. It’s a bit of a shame that we couldn’t stay more than a night, but neither me nor Nicola could get the time off of work. A proper relaxing weekend away is something that I definitely need at the moment.
