Yeah, I know, I know… you’re probably all sick of me posting about the Dungeon Saga: Dwarf King’s Quest Kickstarter, but I’m excited about it, and Mantic were kind enough to send me over a blogger’s “press pack” filled with a bit more information, so I wanted to share that with you as well. This post is quite long thanks to some big images, so dive in using the read more link.
Dwarf King’s Quest is a dungeon-crawling adventure boardgame for 2-5 players. 1-4 of the players take control of the questing party, consisting of the classic Barbarian, Wizard, Dwarf, and Elf. The other player controls the occupants of the dungeon: the Necromancer and his undead hordes. The game board is made of modular card tiles, which can be arranged in one of the pre-arranged scenarios (useful for learning the game mechanics) or by utilising the advance rules to create your own adventures.
Miniatures are single-piece – no assembly required! – so the game is playable immediately after you open the box.
Right now the Kickstarter is going great-guns, which Mantic are rightly proud about. As I mentioned earlier, it was funded in 4 minutes, and it’s now closing in on the $150,000 target (probably over it by the time you read this). A heap of extra stretch-goals have been unlocked, but the $150,000 unlockable is particularly nice looking. Update (11/08/2014) – the $150K model had to be temporarily withdrawn. Mantic have posted an explanation here.
As for getting involved, if you pledge $100 or more, you get the Dungeon Master pack, which contains everything below, and any stretch-goals unlocked.
That’s a lot of stuff to get for your money, with more being added!
I’ve already said it a load of times – I’m really excited about this game, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll be posting more information and updates about it as I get them, so I hope you’re not sick of me talking about Dungeon Saga just yet!
