A thought came to mind, after reading about Ed Milliband’s latest foray to Scotland as part of the referendum campaigning; the various parties in Better Together/No Thanks – particularly Labour – are falling into the usual political dialogue of “vote for me and everything will be better.” They’re fighting this like it’s any normal election, and the problem here is voters have heard that routine before. By contrast, the SNP and Alex Salmond have been saying you don’t have to vote for them. If independence meant no more SNP, then so be it. “Vote Yes for Scotland’s sake, then choose the government you want afterwards.”
